Tina, and anyone who has experence in this area,
Are there any natural remedies / ways to quit smoking? I don't want "the patch" or some "mind altering pill". I am one who can quit cold turkey, and stay that way for 2-3 years, but when some MAJOR crisis or an irritating long term situation arrises, I fall back into the habit. I HATE THAT.
First, I question my faith, I know it's my fault. I should rely on God to get me thru, and about 60% of the time I do......but it's the 40% that kills me everytime!
The bigger problem is, I truly enjoy it. But as much as I enjoy it........there are times when I am wracked with guilt. ((sounds like I need to be locked up! HA HA ))
Any ideas??

Laura, My heart goes out to you honi! I do not have experience with this personally, but my sisters and best friend all smoke and they battle with it too. One thing that I have dealt with is sugar addiction. I have prayed and asked the Lord to take the cravings away and for me to learn to hate it. It has been a slow journey.. but I can definitely tell a difference. Also.. the more choices I make to have us eating healthy, the better it has been. And every time you go to smoke... tell yourself.. out loud.. I hate smoking! It disgusts me! It may seem silly at first.. but it will sink in and it will help. Sorry I don't have any other advice! Praying for you!! Cherise

Laura, Have you had prayer for deliverance in this issue? I used to smoke, but when I got pregnant with my first , I put them down and never picked them up again, but the craving still rears its head occasionally. There are some remedies out there that say that they will help, but I really think it has to be something you do inside yourself. You can do this! I'll start praying you through it right now. Tina

I have prayed.........but I am not sure what "prayer for deliverance" is? So I guess the answer is, no! I too have quit several times.....sometimes for YEARS, only to run back to them in times of crisis. There are two things in my life, if I had it to do all over again, that I would have NEVER done.........smoking, and using foul language.......how is it one can quit drugs and booze, never to look back.......and get hung up on the other two?? I am just weak.

Laura, I'm not really good at explaining things like this online, so if someone else can explain it better than me, please jump in here. We have a spiritual deliverance team at our church that specifically prays to break strongholds(cigarettes, food addictions etc) , they pray for healing of physical and emotional issues. You already know that the enemy comes to rob , steal and destroy and he is using smoking to keep you down . It makes you feel like you are less to the Lord and may even subconciously keep you from getting as close to Him as you would like. That really is not the case because we will never be perfect. Just keep praying about it and if you have Christian friends have them pray too. I'll be praying and since you are praying too, that's already two of us in agreement that you are going to beat this.
God bless, Tina

AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!! TINA that is EXACTLY how I feel!!! I SOOOO badly want to take the next step with the Lord. And you are right on the money when you say I feel like "less" to the Lord.....I DO! I feel like such a hypocrite....but I know my heart, I LOVE HIM, I DO!! I have other issues, other than smoking, but I need to break one strong hold at a time..... Please keep praying for me.....I need to put things into action. I need to stop with the half hearted prayers, and get serious. Thank you so much. Laura
