ive been having a hard problem losing weight, plus my stomach upset all the time. so yday i ate egg whites for bfast with a little bit of cheese and ham, snack was a yogurt witha piece of ham, lunch was a salad with olive oil/balsamic vinegar with some chicken and pineapple (on the side), afternoon snack was half a slice of ham and a small piece of cheese, dinner was a huge salad with some pork on it. guess what? no stomach ache. so we have it pinpointed that the upset stomach is from any and all grains....because even whole wheat stuff i tend to carry a stomachache with. now this morning i did have some oatmeal, but it hasnt bothered me yet. slight more cravings than usual..so its going to be a once a week meal.

oh and get this..this weekend i did overdo it on the carbs..had them with every meal. i also gained 9lbs!! ouch. so i stepped on the scales and it was at 162..ive been 153 which is where i totally stall at...getting past that tends to be near impossible, getting past 150..even harder. last time i was at 144 was a few yrs ago when i did atkins, i lost 20lbs almost immediately (i had gained that on weight watchers..so i was 173 when i started). then it took me 5 months after that to go from 153 to 144. so anyways...this morning i weighed myself and the scales said 148.5!!! i hopped off, reset it, and it said the same thing..woohoo! not only did i lose what i had gained over hte weekend, but i also broke past my 2 spots that i find impossible. i cant tell you how overjoyed i am. im sticking to it too. my stomach ache just isnt worth the grains. dh and i think its a food allergy. and as it builds up in my system i just feel worse and worse.

Good for you...I'm so glad that you found it.

I do that too with certain things...I hit something one time that I gained 7 lbs overnight...sadly it didn't help me break my stall but at least it turned out to be just water and the 7lbs came off pretty much the next day.

As it is now...I can't pay to lose a pound...I'm praying that it is just nursing...but man oh man, I'm still 20 lbs up from pre-pregnant...and it hasn't budged in about 5 weeks...I was SO hoping this would come off more quickly.

Maybe you should be tested for celiac disease. I have a friend who developed it as an adult. Her dr told her that you either present as a child or it sort of "builds" over your life and then it hits you all at once.
I am SO glad that you have found out what has been pulling you down and making you feel so bad.

ive been telling my dr for awhile that i think i may have it. the only thing is a symptom of it is weight loss..and i definitely dont have that!

okay..i was doing some research. look what this says
"Thyroid diseases and diabetes are the two most commonly associated diseases found with celiac disease."

i have both

and heres something else. i get blisters on my head..more when i eat a lot of wheat stuff. in reading about celiac..they talk about dermatitis herpetiformis..the pics look exactly like what i get on my head! the treatment for it is "A strict gluten-free diet will also be recommended to help control the disease. Adherence to this diet may eliminate the need for medications and prevent later complications"...and like i said..when i eat wheat stuff, thats when my head really breaks out.

very interesting, thats for sure. i did read that overweight people can also have it, and i do have soft bowels..not always diarrhea like, but they are never hard or even semi. also in looking at the other symptoms...i bruise extremely easily, i have hypotension (low blood pressure) and muscle spasms, Appetite (Increased to the point of craving) (that isso me!), Crankiness, Difficulty concentrating, Irritability, Personality changes, Poor memory...scarey how i fit perfectly into this!

one of the tests they do is Lactose tolerance test and i can guarentee i wouldnt pass that! what they do is you fast for 8-12 hrs, they check your blood sugar. then you drink a solution of milk, sugar and lemon..if the sugars rise so much then you are breaking it down, if not then you arent. the only thing i disagree with on this though is the sugar...that will take my sugars up regardless.

so even if i dont get tested...though i will talk to my dr when i see her on sept 22... i know what to do, thankfully the internet has enough info on it!
