History: I've had pain in my fingers, wrists, and ankles since I was a child when it gets cold...comes and goes. My paternal grandmother has severe arthritis, crippled just about completely. Her hands are claws and her legs are bent badly. My outward genes are her's, I look just like her younger pictures...I'm thinking my inward genes are following suit. Actually, I've sort of always known that they would, no one else in my family has aching joints...only me. I think Dh and I will be stuck in Florida at this rate, I'm terrified to move back up north if it hurts like this during Florida's winter.
Current: For the past month it's been a little nippy here at night, my ankles are hurting constantly. Yes, I'm on my feet all day, but that's not new. My wrists and my fingers also hurt. I just ache, all over. I'm wearing socks to bed at night, that's when it seems to be at it's worst. But it's a constant pain, just at times more numbing then others. Am I destined to be crippled up with arthritis or is there anything I can do to halt the process? I've cried myself to sleep a few nights, seeing firsthand the affects of this disease makes me ill at the thought that I could have it. I am very independent and young...and do not want to deal with this for the rest of my life. Dh wants me to see our physician...I don't want to me on medication forever either. I'd rather take a natural approach while it's not dibilitating before I seek traditional treatment.
TIA! Angie

Angie~~ Two things~~ Apple cider vinegar and Kombucha tea. You may want to look into the Nourishing Traditions book by Sally Fallon also. I have been using it a lot lately and it fits your families dietary needs..
Take a shot glass full of braggs apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water twice daily. If you want to start making kombucha tea , I'll mail you a culture to get started.
NOW ~ Father I just lift Angie up to you right now. I come against the generational curse of arthritis in the name of Jesus. I pray that you replace her fear with a peace. I pray that you will show her the right answers for her health even if it means going to a medical Doctor and taking medicines. I pray that you relieve the pain right now . In Jesus name~ Amen.
I know that the kombucha tea is something that you may not know about, so if you have questions about that , I'll search you up some links. Arthritis pain is caused from crystalizations in your joints. If you can get those washed out, you should feel much better. Also, stay away from white sugar and carbonated drinks. That's it for now.

You guessed right, I have no clue what kombucha tea is. I found a group of three female rheumatologists in Orlando who also treat for juvenile. I'm thinking that they will listen to me more because of the my juvenile symptoms. I'm calling tomorrow for an appointment. I think I'm ready to embrace whatever they tell me, rather then trying to ignore it like I have been doing for the past several years. I can't ignore it anymore, it's affecting my day to day life. From some reason, I can still type, but I can't grasp objects, especially any with weight. Dh went to Sam's with me today, good thing...because I couldn't life anything. I do have apple cider vinegar, will start that in the morning. Thank you for praying!

Well, then I'll have to get right on that! My weightloss is at a joke right now. I haven't been making the time to hit the gym and we've been using up gift cards at restaurants every night. I went to the gym this evening and we bought healthier food for lunches and dinners this week. I've been reading alot about how fatty foods can contribute to arthritis.... Now a real reason to cut the bad habits.
I really just jumped on here before bed to say, "Phooeeey, that stuff is nassssttttyyyyy!" I guess the apple cider vinegar has to grow on ya, eh?!

haha.. it IS pretty strong stuff, isn't it.. do you have the braggs apple cider vinegar? it tastes the best to me of the ones I've tasted that still have the mother in it. My husband has been taking it for several months now, and the arthritis pain he had is almost gone.

I'm just using the generic Winn Dixie brand, should I get the braggs? I started taking natural vitamin E and Omega-3, the combination of the three of them seems to be helping alot. I can still feel it, but not as bad. My primary doctor went ahead and ordered tests for lupus, too....I hadn't of even thought of that. Something is going on, I've gained 12 pounds since October despite working out and my period was 5 days late this month...I'm always every 28 days. I'll update when I hear something.

Ack! Angie, I've been there, done that on the Lupus diagnosis. I was diagnosed with it almost 6 years ago and I know you don't see me , so you don't know my physical abilities, but maybe one of the ladies on here can attest that I am pretty healthy and able today.
Six years ago, I was on the couch and not able to get up hardly. I tested positive for Lupus. 27 years old. I went for prayer and did a few cleanses. I can't tell you how much better just those cleanses made me feel.
If you are up to it, you may want to give that a try first. The hardest cleanse only lasts one night. The other two are pills , so you should be able to do those easily. They are cheap and definitely worth a try before you go on a bunch of Lupus or arthritis meds should you get diagnosed with that.

Thanks for the encouragement, Tina. I truly feel that I am out of whack somewhere, just not sure what it is. I went through the weekend with minimal pain and this evening my left ankle is killing me. It's just frustrating more then anything, here I am 29 sounding old and depleted! I heard something on the radio this afternoon, from Chuck Swindoll (I think) he was saying that we minister best to those we have something in common with. So, if we were poor we minister best to the poor. If we were an alcoholic then we minister best to alcoholics. All that I could think of for myself was that, so I'm a tired mother who can minister to other tired mothers...lol. This too shall pass. I'm going for the bloodwork in the morning, hopefully will have an answer to something by mid next week. If either one comes up as positive then I'll be using the natural approach before I even consider meds. Hey, maybe I just need to stretch more!

Well, back with the cold is some serious pain....I'm guessing that this is arthritis and not lupus, I don't know much about lupus...but, it doesn't come and go frequently, right?
My left foot and ankle and my left thumb and wrist have been killing me since last night. I've taken 13 advil liquid gel caps in the last 24 hours, not healthy at all.
I'm hoping to hear something by Monday or Tuesday about the bloodwork.

All of the bloodwork came back normal!!! PTL! So, at least it's not the worst form of arthritis, they said there's a good possibility that it could be osteoarthritis. I need to see the doctor again next week.
Thank you for praying!

Mom2boys!! I have a question in regards to this thread. YOu made some recommendations to the OP. I have arthritis. It is in my fingers, hands and feet. My fingers are starting to turn and now I can not open jars. My 8 yr old boy can open them and he does it for me along with his older brother. Thank goodness for strong boys!! Anyway I am wondering if the advice applies to all who suffer from arthritis?? I am not taking any meds for it but I did take Vioxx until they came out saying it can cause meniginus (sp?).
Thanks!!
Holly

It would be worth a try for you. It may not fix what is already done with your finger deformity ,but it may help with the pain . It's cheap enough to try.
