Forgive me if this has already been asked somewhere...but I am wanting to make sure I do the Ear Wax Candle thing right and can't find other details so far in a search.
Last night Dh had me do 6 yes 6 candles in ONE ear. He has major problems in that ear. Every single candle was filled with goop. That dark orange waxy looking stuff. That is his ear wax right?
Isn't six alot of candles?
He would have done more if he'd had them.
Since the 6th candle had as much wax in it as the first one did...he was frustrated, and then had me put hydrogen peroxide in that ear. I asked him if he'd like me to put coconut oil in his ear but he never did want me to.
Talk to me about how YOU would treat someone's healivy waxed ears???
Also, how often do you snip the candle? At an inch burned, or two inches burned???
Are there different kinds of candles?? Or a better kind??
Thanks for any help... Daisey

Hi Daisey, 6 candles is excessive. I would do no more than 2-3 per week until the ears clear. I am racking my brain trying to remember the name of the liquid stool softener drops that are used for infants...You can put 6 drops of those in his ear and allow it to sit for 30 minutes and then gently flush water into the ear with one of those baby syringes. That will flush a lot of the built up wax out. Then, it sounds like you need to do maintenance every month to keep it from building up again. 2-3 candles per ear per month unless you see the decrease in wax on the first candle. I snip when it looks like it's gonna fall off and burn hair or injure someone. That's not the really safe way to do it though.

Okay..thanks for the info...but...what causes all the extra wax. Tow of my sons have overly waxy ears...and my dh's ears are just ridiculous. Yes, I thoguh 6 candles was excessive too. He watns to do another batch this week!!! YIKES. I will show him this thread. He said he doesn't want to do a candle on our toddler or infant sons because he's read on the intenet abotu hot wax falling into the ear drum and doing some kind of damage. Have you heard of this? How likely is that relly?? Not that I am gonig to argue..I just had never heard of that.
Thanks for all the help!!

yes, I have heard the story about the person that had hot wax dropped into their ear . It's a myth. I think it comes from quack watch .

I have been ear candling for about 15 years and have never had wax drop into anyone's ear. I think it's pretty safe.
