Ok, first the good news. I have been doing research like a crazy person. I have prayed. Last night, I asked my dh if I could spend 300.00. He said yes, without asking me "what for". SO I said: Don't you want to know what on? He gave me 'the look'.......and said "Ok, on what?"
So I told him what I was reading about and why I would like to buy a mill and grind our own grain. I told him that about a month ago, I started buying chicken that has no hormones / no antibiotics / no steroids, and not one person has noticed the difference. I told him about the health benefits.
He was impressed with my research and said SURE!! But said don't ask him to drink raw milk. He did it when he was a kid, and it was gross...........that's a whole other story though!!
SO the good news is I am cleared to buy a mill and grain.
Here come the questions:
A1) Where is the best place to buy a mill?
1) I am looking at a new Nutrimill, because it has a place for a hand crank attachment (if we loose power) I don't like the idea of being rendered helpless without power. Do you have any experience with a Nutrimill?? Tell me what you think of it?
2) Where do I buy my grain? I do not belong to a co-op. What kind of grain should I buy? How much should I buy to start with?
3) Yeast. What do I buy and where do I get it?
4) Pans. Can I just use the glass bread pans I have, or should I use something else?
5) Will it freeze? Can I make my bread for the week on Monday and freeze it? Will it taste yucky after it thaws?
Thank you SO much for taking the time to answer my questions!! Laura
