Sorry if this has been covered before. I can't remember.
So what do you all think of dried fruit. Healthy? Alkaline? Like dried apricots from the walmart produce section? I thinking they have no sugar or anything. They're just dried. I can't dry my own, don't have the appliance.
And how do ya'll store ya'lls? Is it alright to keep it in a container on the counter...or does it just HAVE to go in the fridge? (I don't like it from the fridge).
Thanks...
;D

You want to make sure it doesn't have sulphur in it. Most dry fruit does. I can't think of the actual chemical name because my brain is fried from speaking last night. You'll know that it's sulphur though because it's part of the chemical name. I hope that just made sense. Otherwise, it is alkaline and it's also yummy!

Okay and thanks for the tips.....just curious....for those who are able to dry their own fruit....what kind of appliance do you have and love for this?
Dulcie...Dried Watermelon? That sounds super interesting. I'd love to try that.

140 or the lowest your oven will go, leave the door open a few inches, put the fan in front of it having it blow into the oven (you have to have air movement to get a good dry). usually takes all day to get it dry..thicker can take even longer

Assuming this is o.k. for a GAS oven? or electric only? Would the fan blow out the gas? Really neat -o.

I don't know if you have a Dollar General near you, but they have these great glass containers with screw on lids. If my dh will get those pics up, I can show you what I mean. That's what I store dried fruit in on a shelf. I don't refrigerate it.
