ive been trying to lose weight for 2 yrs now. ive gained weight on weight watchers, lost what i gained while on atkins and have done various other diets. Nothing has worked and im still the same weight as i was when i started 2 yrs ago. thankfully i have lost a ton of inches or i would have given up a long time ago!

Dulcie, I was thinking about you with our diabetes and thyroid and trying to loose weight. Is your thyroid overactive or underactive? Have you looked into coconut oil to help speed up your metabolism? There is a ton of information on it at www.tropicaltraditions.com . It really does help quite a bit with the thyroid.

Dulcie, You can order it from Tropical Traditions online. We have a wholesale account with them. I have been known to order it through our co-op for friends and ship it to them so they can get our cost. You can see our price list under www.tasteofhealth.homestead.com . Since I know you from the 'shed I would be willing to send some your way at the wholesale price. If you read up on it, I think you would agree that it is definitely worth a try. I have begun just using something called coconut cream concentrate which is 70% coconut oil and it actually tastes just like coconut. You can just take it on a spoon. I never had much luck taking the oil straight on a spoon. It was just gross.

id rather have something i could just eat real quick and get it out of the way..but not taste gross (and i do like coconut..but around here its all sugared). the site is down right now, so i will check it out later. if the price isnt horribly high i would love to try some..but what will it do to my sugars? will it do good for my sugars, thyroid and weight loss?

Dulcie...coconut oil is great...I cook with it or melt it over stuff...it's solid at room temp and looks a little like shortening. One of my friends just puts a dollop in her oatmeal, like you might put a little butter. I don't use much right now because I just recently learned about it and have heard some people get a tad sick on it the first few days that they use it due to die off. Not sure I want to have die off at 8 mo pregnant....mostly don't want to be sick . But it's got a good flavor for oil...a touch sweet but for the most part pretty discreet.

You shouldn't get sick in the first few days if you ease into taking. You should not take more than one teaspoon the first three days and then you can add a teaspoon daily in three day intervals.
You shouldn't have a problem with coconut cream concentrate though because that's the whole coconut ground up. It's 70% oil, but has tons of fiber in it to slow down your bodies absorption.

Thanks I'll try that.
I originally bought it as another healthy oil alternative...for the most part I use olive and/canola and some organic butter.
Is there a quick link someone has to the benefits of coconut oil?
I've heard that it helps maintain blood sugar and that it's some sort of a natural cleanser anti-biotic/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial...but I don't know which.
