Well, I've never been on the skinny side but over the last 5 years I've gained about 20 pounds. I am now about 40 pounds heavier than I would like to be. I must admit that my problem is that I love food and I love to eat. I have never had self-control in this area. I am really going to try in earnest to change the way I eat. I have two young sons (and hopefully many more children to come) and I want to teach them NOW to eat healthfully. I would greatly appreciate any advice, suggestions, encouragement that any of you may have. I weigh about 196 right now and would like to get down to about 155. Where do I start? When grocery shopping the other day, I tried to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables. We have a very limited budget so I can't buy much to begin with. I bought bananas, apples, carrots and celery. I even resisted the temptation to buy dip for the carrots! ;D Anyway, HELP!!!

I lost 40 lbs last year before I got pregnant and assuming I lose the baby weight fairly quickly (I have in both of my other pregnancies) I still have about 20 to go.
What I had to do was cut out all white stuff, sugar, bread, rice, pasta etc...I also had to cut starches (so no potatoes, bananas or carrots and most fruits (that was because I was nursing and my dd was allergic to EVERY fruit I ate).
So basically I'm eating a low carb whole food diet. We do our best to live by the rule...if God didn't make it we don't eat it...doesn't always work but that's the plan.
