I have been teaching a First Place group at church for 4 weeks now. I've lost 11 pounds on the program and the Bible study that goes with it has enabled me to grow so much as a Christian.

A group at church just finished First Place, but I wasn't able to be involved. I have put on about 7 pounds since I started working and it's driving me crazy...eating on the go is not healthy! Dh is home in the mornings now, so I *should* be out walking before the kids get up...that would be ideal for me. I've never been over weight, but I will be soon if I don't start paying attention to what goes into my mouth and making an effort to exercise. Is it possible to follow the First Place without being in "group"...do you use videos or just read and talk?

Angie, I run three First Place groups. Two for the congregation and one for the staff. See if the leader of that group would be willing to do it for the staff. I meet with them for about 5 minutes individually every week. They weigh in , hand in their committment records and ask any questions that they may have. I am also always available to them via email or telephone. It is a Bible Study , workbook deal. There are videos, but you should be able to borrow them and return them because they are only used at the beginning of the class.

Thanks, Tina, the lady who taught the class has just quit her job. She may have some free time during the week now to do it with the staff....gracious do we need it. The favorite lunch spot is a good ole' southern diner....not healthy at all.

Chris, The program can run indefinitely. I have 130 weeks of Bible studies to go through. ;D The Saturday class has only met twice so far. It's a nice small class. Join us if you'd like.
Angie, Your church sounds like mine. There is always Dunkin Donuts and pizza up for grabs. No event is complete with out food and there's always someone sticking their head in the office wanting to go to lunch. Lunch is usually Panera Bread.... We all need it. It'd be great if someone could help lead the staff.
