We live and die by our cells. If we are having a good run of health, it is likely that the cause for that is that our cells our healthy or it could be that we are not really as healthy as we think we are.
We all have the germs living in us that make us sick. The only time we actually have the symptoms of the sickness is if our cells are compromised to the point that the germ can enter them and infect us. How do the cells become compromised?
Our bodies are designed to be alkaline. That is how we function best. The problem is that not all foods are alkaline and when we don't balance the alkaline and acid foods, we can become imbalanced. I will post a list of which foods fall into which category under a separate thread.
Most proteins and dairy products are acid with the exception of raw milk and some nuts. We should not have more than 25% acid foods in our diet. That leaves us with less than 50 grams of protein per day.
The alkaline foods include fruits and vegetables. Alkaline foods actually help the body digest the acid foods, so even if you limited the acid foods you ate, it would not help you unless you had an adequate supply of alkaline foods.
I know you are scratching your head right now, but bear with me through these posts and you will begin to understand.
The goal is to eventually get to the point where you are eating your fruits and veggies mostly raw, but for now, we will start small.
Your first challenge is to make sure that fruit is the first thing to pass your lips every morning. By doing this , you will prime your system to handle any proteins you introduce later. Don' t go cold turkey on this diet. It can make you very sick. Just go slow along with the directions on this thread and you will do fine.
A great way to get your fruit in is to make a morning smoothie. There is a recipe under Katies cherry thread in Cooking.
I'll write more later
