How would you know right? Well, that's easy. You can buy litmus paper at the pharmacy and test yourself. Eat a high protein dinner with lots of processed pasta and meat. You can even throw in some bread.
In the morning, test your first urine with the pH stick(litmus paper). If it turns dark, your body is much too acid. Do not excercise.
If it does not change color at all, you are sick even if you don't feel that way. You can excercise, but you must begin paying better attention to the food you eat.
If it is a light color change, your body is overcompensating for your lack of alkalinity.
A PH of 7-8 is a normal response.

I should add that stress and negative emotions are huge acid builders.
Any time you exercise your body creates acid. Some of which is eliminated through the lungs and some of which the body has to handle. So if you are already extremely acid and you exercise, you could push your body into a health crisis. It's always best to get everything on a better track and then begin exercising again.

Eat a high protein dinner with lots of processed pasta and meat. You can even throw in some bread. I don't think I'm following you on this. Pasta isn't protein, it's a carb right? Are you saying to eat alot of meat and add pasta and bread to the meal also? Sorry to sound so dense!

No, your not dense. I was not clear. You want high protein and the reason for the pasta is that it is one of the deadest acid foods you can eat. It's made from processed flour , then cooked, then dried, then we cook it again. It is a big stressor on the body, so it helps to indicate how your body is responding to foods. Processed bread is another one that is acid.
Some of us are in a better position because we mill our grain from the whole source, but all processed grains stress the body.
Have you read the alkaline/ acid food lists yet. They're pretty eye opening. I'm mourning my beans. I can eat beans all day long...

Dulcie, You could just do high proteins that evening. Just eat more things from the acid list than the alkaline.
