The Simply Organic mixes are grand! (Thanks Tina!) Unfortunately, our co-op doesn't carry them.
Here's a recipe for Ranch Dressing:
5 tbl instant minced onion 4 tsp salt 1 tsp garlic powder 7 tbl parsley flakes
Mix all together and store in a cool, dry place in a covered container. To prepare, combine 2 tbl of the mix with 1 cup mayo and 1 cup buttermilk. Sour cream may be substituted for the buttermilk.
Katie's revisions:
I cut the salt in half. I've used granulated garlic with fine results. I've used equal parts mayo and sour cream for a veggie dip. I use plain non-fat yogurt as a substitute for sour cream.

Can I cook with Katie's homemade ranch dressing if I used yogurt instead of sour cream when I made it up? I ended up making four cups (don't ask why) and it tastes great! But I can't use up four cups in the next couple of weeks just putting it on salads. I was thinking of making ranch chicken (never tried it, but it sounds good), but I'm not sure I can cook with yogurt.
btw, Tina, I've copied off your recipe for herb italian dressing, too. It sounds awesome!
Thank you!

Paula,
I'd make some chicken nuggets with all that extra ranch. I don't really have a recipe....just get your boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cube them up, toss around in some ranch dressing and then roll in some sort of crumbs. (Then discard that ranch dressing.) Bake for about 20 - 25 minutes at 400 degrees. Dip in all the extra ranch dressing. YUUUUUMMMM!
You could also use some of it in some sort of pasta salad. Don't have a recipe, just thinking aloud. Pasta, chicken, broccoli, onion, etc. .....it could be good.

Sam, girl, you are one brave woman. Katie, I've already thought of your suggestion for, ahem, BAKED chicken in ranch with the bread crumbs, too. Got the chicken thawing in the fridge right now! Great minds...! I hadn't thought about making a chicken pasta salad, though. That sounds really great, too. I wonder if I could pass both of them off on my dh in the same meal. Probably not. Thank you all!
