Hi all, I am very excited about this site, thanks Tina! My name is Chris, wife of Mark for 18 years, mom to Jesse (13), Jake (11), Sam (9) and Danica (7). I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. I have made bad eating choices pretty much all of my life. I have tried lots of different diets, but was never really successful. Following diet plans can really epitomize double-mindedness, they all say the opposite thing is the right thing A few months ago I felt led to not pick up another diet book or read another diet website and to just eat foods that God made, the way he made them, and to avoid anything that man tried to "cheat" or "improve" on God's design. That was very freeing! I went on a 10-day water fast to start over with a "clean slate." Besides changing my eating habits, I also started walking on the treadmill (almost daily). What a huge difference in the way I felt and the energy I had! ;D My biggest struggle is with dairy (cow's). I have always had stuffed up sinuses. After my fast, when I tried to introduce cheese or any type of dairy product back into my life, I would have instantaneous allergic reactions. I switched to raw dairy from grass-fed cows and the reaction was even more pronounced I am allergic to alot of grasses, and I wonder if the allergens from the grass are being passed through the milk Fortunately, I do seem to be ok on goat's milk cheeses. Well, I guess that is probably more than anyone wanted to know Looking forward to getting to know everyone! His, Chris

Chris, Your dairy allergy may end up being a blessing in the end, because with the acid/alkaline class that I am teaching, I will talk about how cow milk is acid and goats milk is alkaline. We want more alkaline foods in our diet to keep our cells healthy, so the fact that you are already doing the goat products puts you a step ahead in the process.
By the way, welcome to the board!

Yeah, that is good news Tina! I wish the goat's milk that you can buy tasted as good as the goat's milk that I tried at a friend of mine's farm. Is the yogurt from goat's milk that Golden Fleece offers goaty tasting? An older gentleman I know who raises goats always says, "it's the milk of the bible!" His, Chris

I'm not sure if it's goaty tasting or not, but have you tried the raw goats milk from Golden Fleece? I am considering trying it soon. I really only use milk to cook and make yogurt anyway, so I have been wondering if I should give it a try.

I haven't tried it, but I intend on ordering it on the next order. I also am going to try the goat's milk butter. Am I right to assume that the "gogurt" that they sell is goat's milk yogurt? I was going to try some of that but maybe I will just make my own from the raw goat's milk. My understanding of goat's milk is that if you have a buck (bucks) around (they don't even have to be in the same pen), then the goat's milk will have more of a "goaty" taste. My friends don't keep bucks so their milk is very mild and similar to cow's milk. My concern is that Golden Fleece being a larger farm does have at least 1 buck and that it will have that taste Hopefully I'm wrong. His, Chris

There are some ladies in the co-op that went on a field trip with their homeschoolers to Golden Fleece. Maybe they will see this thread and be able to answer whether or not there is a buck . It would make sense that they have bucks though. The gogurt is made from goat milk.

Hi Chris! I've always had sinus problems too! and I love cheese! (but have never liked the taste of white milk) I will have to try the goat's milk way too. And I too have not made the better food choices for the past several years. We were in a coop, way back in 1988 - 92, when we lived in Nebraska. Then we moved to Okinawa for a few years then retired here in Florida. While I never stopped milling my wheat, I got back to eating sugar and other not so good for you things. I'm SO glad to be in this coop, and am looking forward to improving my health. Marcia

Hi Everybody, I just want to ask what a water fast is? Could you give me some pointers as to what you did eat during the 10 day fast. It sounds very interesting...I am 46 and am starting to feel sluggish where I have always been energetic in the past. I know I have put on weight, and as far as excercise, well, not much. I would appreciate any info. Thanks again, and it's nice meeting everyone here. Kathi

Hi Peewee. I was hoping that Chris would see your post and answer how she did the water fast. I have fasted for prayer for a day ,but never for ten, so I am interested in hearing her answer. I will post a thread that she will see and ask her to explain.
In natural health a person can go on a distilled water fast to cleanse themselves of toxins, but if you are sick, it can be very hard on your body. I would reccomend that you work on your acid/alkaline balance first and then fast if you feel led.
