I joined because I am having the worst time controlling my diabetes. I am not on any insulin as of yet..it is diet and exercise controlled...or so they want. Needless to say even following their diet, and changing things are not getting things where I need them.
For my intro Im Dulcie, 30, married for almost 10 yrs. Have 4 blessings age 9 (tomorrow), 6, 4 and 2.

Hi Dulcie, I'm glad you're here. Have you looked at the diabetic forum? There are some herbs there that you might find helpful. I have heard wonderful reviews on the use of cinnamon to lower blood sugar. Let us know if any of the ideas work for you. Tina

I don't know if you drink coffee or tea, but try putting a cinnamon stick in one of those and see if you see a difference. If you eat yogurt, sprinkle some on there, on sweet potatoes etc.

lol..that would be funny. im trying to think of what i eat that i could put it on..i usually eat oatmeal and yogurt in the morning..but im changing that because my sugars crash before lunch, then go skyhigh the rest of the day..and im thinking perhaps its that. i have had eggs the last 2 days though and im having the same problem though. cant have apples...they raise me to high..in fact most fruits do. oh wait...everything raises me high... even my salads. ewww cinnamon on lettuce.

Hi Dulcie, Glad to see you here. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my last 2 babies. (Not the same thing, I know, because it went away afterward. But for a little while, I had to control my blood sugar with diet.) I used to eat oatmeal for breakfast. But I would have it with skim milk and 1/2 banana. That amount of banana equalled one fruit portion for me, and it also seemed to raise my blood sugars enough. Lynne

canadamom..i had GD with my last 2 pgs, but never lost it with my last one. she will be 3 in july and ive been struggling with it since before she was born. just thought i had it under control. there is quite a difference though..with GD the #s have to be much more in control and such. Unfortunetely bananas raise my sugars too high. I tried one yday with my eggs. Usually my morning sugars run really good, then my afternoon and evening sugars arent all that good. But as of lately its changing and my morning sugars are starting to go out of control. i ws told to try eggs for bfast, and no carbs til dinner..i did that and they are still high.

Is it possible that whatever you are eating the night before is contributing to high blood sugar the next morning?
(I'm not trying to ask a million questions. I guess I'm interested in this because my mother has type 2 diabetes, first diet control but now insulin dependent, and I had GD with 2 pregnancies. I'm pretty sure I'll end up with type II.)
