Hi! Katie here! The crazy one with ten kids. Very healthy kids I might add! Ok here is the lowdown.....we don't vax, we avoid allopathic medicine unless we are dying and at our wits end, don't trust doctors any further than I can throw them. I had a complete thyroidectomy ten years ago and I self medicate. More than half my kids are drug babies and hence have other behavioral issues that have been greatly erradicated through diet modification. My three yo twins have a list of food allergies as long as your arm. And I am reading "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" by Weston Price and I think he should be nominated for sainthood! Oh and we visit the chiropractor every week. I am looking forward to learning and gleaning and sharing in very laymens terms so *I* can understand!! WOO HOO! I like what I've read already!! Me!!

Katie, I'm glad you're here. I agree with you on Dr Weston Price! I hope you will share with us regarding what you do with your thyroid. We have several ladies with thyroid issues that I think will benefit from your knowledge. Do you know much about Graves disease? I have been toying with doing my dissertation on the thyroid since it seems to be such an issue with so many people I know and love. Tina

Howdy Katie...It's fun to see you here!! I didn't know you were so healthy minded. That's really cool. I've never read the material by Mr. Weston Price. I will have to check out the book. I'm learning a ton here. It will be fun to get encouragement from eachother here in this area of health. I arleady love getting the child rearing encouragement at the shed.....I feel like God has allowed me to stumble across some of the most valuable places so early in my marriage ......and that feels like such a priviledge. !!
Love, Daisey

Dulcie, I was taking Armour but then could not get it through Mexico anymore. So I order through Nutrimeds now. It seems I must take MORE Nutrimeds to see the same effects as the amount of Armour I was taking but I had heard that might happen. I LOVE LOVE LOVE self medicating. I had a particularly stressful bump in my life several weeks ago and it was so nice to be able to up my meds to keep up with my body's need. I also had a blood test not too long ago (2 months now?) through my midwife. She was SO shocked that my bloodwork came back good even though I am self medicating! ROFL I said "Well of course, you think I WANT to feel bad? I'm not going to over or under medicate myself!!" And I had the FREE T3 tested. Too funny because my midwife requested all this other stuff like the TSH and other worthless things. *I* requested the FREE T3 and she thought she was humoring me!! When the results came back the lab did not run anything BUT the FREE T3. ROFLPMP ;D So I got what *I* wanted and she was a bit concerned. But I refused to be poked again and after I signed a waiver all was good again.

KatieAZ,
I would LOVE to stop depending on my dr. for my low thyroid condition. What is it your order through Nutrimeds and how do I find it? (I take levothyroxine 75mcg now)

www.nutri-meds.com/thyroid.htmI've heard porcine is better (somethinga bout federal law not allowing the use of growth hormones in pigs?) but they were out when I ordered so I ordered the bovine. There is also a company in Africa you can buy Armour from. Trying to remember their website or company name. You can look at the links section at the Yahoo group Naturalthyroidhormones. They had a couple places listed that sold Armour or it's generic. But price wise NutriMeds was the better deal.

im confused..is that the same stuff as armour? or does armour add or something? im confused lol. i went from using levothryoid to armour..levothroid is like synthroid..but both were giving me migraines really bad, like everyday. after i finally realized it i had a dr that wouldnt give me armour, so i switched drs (well for other reasons too!). i feel so much better on armour..and no more migraines. i only pay $11 for 3 months supply, so cant complain on the price!

Yes, same thing. Dissected porcine thyroid. There are several different brands out there. Armour, West -Throid, Unithroid??, I know I'm forgetting a throid. Armour is the brand name the others are generics and then there are those you can get without a Rx because of the way they label their bottles. Something about only saying they are a "thyroid support" product. Not sure, ask Janie at the naturalthyroidhormones group. That is where I learned everything I used to know! LOL
When I had insurance and a doc that would prescribe for me Armour was the way to go as it is actually cheaper than synthroid and a superior product. Unfortunately, my doc and I had a falling out and shortly there after my insurance went up. Could not see spending $500/month for meds that cost MAYBE $30/month on the open market just so I could use the $5 co-pay. As it is now we could get ins through Jeff for $250 I think it was. But my goodness!! I'd still pay 80/20 and we had a $1500 deductible to meet first! Guarantee we would never meet that deductible barring a SERIOUS accident and it is just not a good trade off for us.

Katie!! I'm so glad to see you here!! I sure have missed you at WS here lately! You give the absolute best advice!!! ;D I didn't realize you were so health-conscious. It sounds like we can learn a lot from you here at Taste of Health also. I just joined this group, but I can already tell I'm going to learn a lot here. Anyway - just wanted to say I'm glad to see you here! Take care, Mindy (Sproutgirl)
