My name is Monica, I'm married to my best friend as well, Brian, and I have been blessed with my little angel boy Morgan (almost 14 mo.) and two cats! My husband and I endeavor to lead a semi-self sufficient lifestyle and so many of our interests are represented on this site. Currently I am a stay at home Mom and offer classes at a local Folk School here in Wisconsin. In the past, I have taught Outdoor Environmental Education and I am an 'herbalist in training' and as Melinda said, you never really know much compared to the wealth of knowledge there is - I am an eternal student! My interests run the gamut from herbal healing to herbal body care, slow cooking (from scratch of course), candlemaking, soapmaking, to survival and animal tracking! (You name a natural based 'craft' and I'm probably interested) Currently, I'm focused on herbs, bread making, fitness, and QUILTING (we'll see if I have the patience). Looking forward to chatting and learning! Peace

Welcome to the board! It's so exciting to see all of these grounded ladies here. I think that with all of our limited knowledge that we can cover all the bases . It will be interesting to see who has more knowledge in what areas. I also love to craft. I am a cross stitchaholic.

Hi Monica! Teaching at a local folk school sounds divine. It sounds like we have a lot of the same interests - herbs, cutting fabric into little bits just to sew it back together, soap, bread, etc. All those things fascinate me as well. I'm up in northern MN....you aren't in northern WI are you? I have lots of friends over there in the badger state.

Hey Katie! Actually, yes, I am located in Northern Wisconsin. In fact, I currently am about 5 minutes from Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands! Small world huh?

Yes it is a small world! We'll wave at you when we make our trip to Michigan in July. I love the big lake!!! We live just about a block away. Even inside the house with windows closed, I can hear the w a v e s crashing when it storms. But you're on the south side, where it really SNOWS!

I think you'll love quilting..the cutting can be sort of slow, but once you start sewing it's fun to see it all come together.
