Hello
Sorry I haven't been here for a while. Computer problems on my end and I didn't even know this website was down as well.
I am doing alot of researching on eating healthy and avoiding certain foods. We have been avoiding hydrogenated oils, food coloring esp. Red 40, blue whatever numbers as well as the yellows....I found out about MSG. I think it really affects my oldest son. We highly suspect him to have ADHD and Central Auditory processing disorder. We are not seeking a diagnoses for him as he doesn't want to be medicated and I agree.
I know about going with whole grains in bread, pastas and so on but they are very pricey. How far do you go in making your own pastas, breads, tortillas, flatbread so on it goes?
MSG is in everything. It is unbelievable. Is there anyway we can avoid MSG? It is hidden in other names that seem innocent enough.
I need the lowdown of healthy eating, whole food eating. I do not not much but I do know about hydro. oils, MSG and food coloring.
I also do not know much about grain. I have heard about Kumut, spelt, buckwheat and so on. I have no clue what they are good for in regards to cooking. Yes I know they are good for you but what do you do with it??
Also I have the Urban Homemaker catalog. I would like to know if these books are good (if you used them or have seen it and loved it):
*The Busy Woman's Guide to Healthy Eating by Emilie Barnes and Sue Gregg
*The New Pressure Cooker Cookbook by Pat Dailey
*Cooking with Grains by Coleen and Bob Simmons
*The Pasta Machine Cookbook by Donna R German
*Whole Foods for the Whole Family edited by Roberta Bishop Johnson (a La leche Book)
*Natural Meals in Minutes by Rita Bingham
*1-2-3 Smoothies by Rita Bingham
*Cooking and Baking with Fresh Ground Flour by Christine Downs
*The Best Pizza is Made at Home by Donna German
*ADD The Natural Approach by Anderson and Peiper
*The Gluten Free Gourmet Cooks Fast and Healthy
*Cookin with Home STorage by Vicki Tate
*Mix a Meal cookbook by Deanna Bean and Lorna Shute
*How to Dry foods by Deanna DeLong
*Stocking Up by Carol Hupping
*Make a Mix cookbook bye Karine Eliason
*SAving Dinner by Leanne Ely
*Crockery Cook by Mable Hoffman
Thanks for bearing with me in reading. Thanks!!
Holly
