I presented our local homeschool group with the information about Morning Land Dairy and I have a few takers! I was wondering how you all go about splitting up the cheeses.
When they come in, do you just cut them in half and deliver that way? Or will Morning Land split orders for you?
Also, if you don't have exactly the right amount for splits, how do you make up the difference? Does someone in your group just take the leftover halves?
I'm wondering what I'm going to do if I get some half orders and no one wants the other half.
Thanks!

Hi Paula, We cut the block of cheese right down the middle and call it even. Someone will have to take your extras. I used to buy them myself and shred and freeze it for pizza, but I don't know if you can do that financially. Most of the time, if you tell people that you have extra half blocks that have to sell before you can place the order, you will find that people will find relatives and friends to help out. Let me know if you'd like a place on the board to take cheese orders!
Frontier Foods would be another good co-op to get going where you are. It's a very easy one.

Thank you, Tina! I'm so excited. I got an order phoned in today for 25# of cheese! Five of us ordered. I ended up taking an extra 1/2 (because someone only wanted 1/2 after I found out that they don't have the hot pepper colby) that I didn't really want, but it's okay. I'll grate it up and freeze it and have it when I need it. It won't go to waste. Thanks for all your help! Paula

Also, thanks for the offer for a spot on the boards to take orders. At this point, there are only a few of us interested and I don't think I'm going to get too many more unless it really gets popular so doing it through email will work fine for a while. And another question - since the Ozark co-op sells Frontier Foods products, what's the advantage of buying directly from Frontier, too? Do they have more options ordering directly from them? I do know with Ozark, a lot of our people are getting very frustrated. They've been out of so much lately, but with the new system, hopefully things will turn around soon. Their new catalog this month is really big, with a lot more variety. I think some people are scared of having to place their own online orders, though. It's a learning process. Thank you! Paula

Paula, United is superior to Ozark IMO due to the fact that they have more in stock items. You may ask your Ozark coordinator to look into a United co-op. We are really enjoying them here.
Let us know how the new system works. We have our Ozark co-op on hold for now.

How long does it take for the Morning Land Dairy cheeses to get to you once they go out? She told me they'd probably get our order out to us on Monday, June 5. When should I expect the package to arrive?
It's so terribly hot here in Oklahoma right now. I know the cheese is packed in an insulated box, but does it really keep it from being icky by the time it gets here??
Thanks!

Yes, I got the mild cheddar and think it tastes great! I also got some med. sharp cheddar but haven't tried it yet. I tried a little bite of someone's colby (since I had to half it anyway) and I think I liked it even better. Hopefully I can get them to do this with me again!
