im still taking my herbals stack, i thought they were keeping them down, but im still having the rollar coaster ride. one day my sugars will be low/normal, then the next day they run high..its like my pancreas isnt working then it goes into overdrive.
judy..i had gestational diabetes with my last 2 pgs. i was talking to a friend of ours yday, who just happens to be a dr, and he said most likely i had some auton immune disease either while pg or afterwards that has attacked my pancreas. he looked at my #s and said...looks like your going on orals. he said it should help me lose weight too..lets hope!

Dulcie, I know exactly how you feel. I read that you had gestational that turned into type II. Exactly what happened with me. My son was one when I found out that I had diabetes. I found out I had gestational when I was about 5.5 months pregnant. I was able to control it easily. After delivery, I was told everything would go back to normal, but that I should have it checked annually. I did just that and the very next year found out that I was diabetic. There are things that make my doctor think it never went away after delivery. I was also told that it is possible that I had type II while pregnant and that it wasn't gestational at all. When I found out that I had it, I had just turned 24. I tried controlling it with diet and exercise and it just wasn't happening. My doc suggested that I take some oral meds. She started me on Metformin and glipizide (actually I saw a diabetes nurse manager). My husband was in the Army at the time. Since he got out last July, I had to start seeing a new doc. She added another med on. So, now I take 500mg of Avandamet (avandia and metformin in one) and still on the glipizide. I was also tested and found to have high cholesterol. I take meds for that. I tell you....I felt horrible before starting my meds. I had high highs and low lows. I mostly ran high and fastings were around 150 and rest of the day was 175 and up. It made me feel so sick to my stomach. I'm not saying that I don't have bad days being on the meds, but they are few and far between. I don't think I have had anything higher than 150 in a long, long time (unless I happen to test and it is less than 2 hours since a meal....even then it is way better than it used to be). Like your docs, my docs don't want me to go over 140. Anyhow, just wanted to share a little with you to let you know you are not alone in your struggles!!

Dulcie, I have found this product called Juice Plus+ it is 17 different Fruits, Vegetables, and grains in capsule. My son is diabetic and I never let him eat fruit because it sugar used to get out of control. So I found juice plus+ and now I know he gets the right amount of nutiriton on a daily basis. What i noticed is after being on it for a short amount of time he needed less insulin. I started talking to people and found it helped people in many different ways. check out the website. its www.lockenutrition.comJust rememeber to learn to be intune with your body it talks to you and lets you know if your high or low then you learn what to and not to eat and how it affects you.
