amazingly enough. actually i think i have figured out the secret lol. when i was first diagnosed with diabetes i ordered whats called D-care herbal weight loss management. so its weight loss pills but for diabetics. well i stopped taking them and thts when my #s went high. so i started them again yday and had normal #s. hmmm. they are all herbal and some of the herbs that are mentioned as sugar lowering are in it..along with some that suppress appetite and such. i did wake up at 4am feeling like my sugars were super low, so i ate a few crackers and went back to bed. woke up with a fasting of 99. my highest # was 126 yday. though i didnt take it after dinner...oops. ill eat the same thing i ate for dinner for lunch..so we shall see lol. now i havent lost any weight on these pills. but they do make it so im not always starving, and have cut out my cravings. i know i cant stay on these forever, so who knows where i will go after. they are on sale through my prescription online place though lol. maybe once i lose all my weight i wont have to worry about them being crazy, because they wont be i can hope right?

So what's in them?? And if they are working why can't you stay on them?
I know that L-Glutamine helps me with the hypoglycemic swings...but I don't have diabetes. As long as it's working and I can afford it I'll be staying on it...it just makes life easier. My sugars are messed up enough that if I don't keep them straight, diabetes IS in my future...it may be anyway, but my dr says ABSOLUTELY if I don't...so I consider it a pretty small price to pay.
Hey I have a question...okay, you know I'm 8 months preggo...I had three days of incredible fatigue (Sun, Mon and Tues)... yesterday I had 1 cup (maybe 10 oz) of caffinated tea and my enegry stayed WAY up all day, and actually I'm still fine this morning. My blood sugar swings have ALWAYS been able to be fixed pretty quickly...like eat something carby or have 3 swigs of pepsi or something like that and I'm back up, not shakey, headache goes away etc. I was thinking it might just be blood pressure drops (mine either goes high or low at the end of pregnancy)...any way is all day fatigue something you get with low blood sugar or can you usually fix it? I just wondering if I'm just PREGNANT and over thinking a couple of days of fatigue.

Hey Dulcie, on the Tropical Traditions web site , there is a product called Banaba Pure for Diabetics. It's not for weight loss. I wonder if those would work the same as the diet pills you are taking......

heres whats in them... Daytime Herbal Complex: Per 3 Caplets: Chromium (as Picolinate) 200 mcg; Bladderwrack Powder 5 mg; Goldenrod Leaf Powder 5 mg; Parsley Leaf Powder 5 mg; Uva Ursi Leaf Powder 5 mg; Corn Silk Pistils Powder 5 mg; Hawthorn Berries Powder 20 mg; Fumitory Herb Powder 5 mg; Licorice Root Powder 20 mg; Marshmallow Root Powder 25 mg; Apple Pectin Powder 5 mg; Guarana Extract 25 mg; Kola Nut Extract 30 mg; Cayenne Pepper Powder 10 mg; Nopalactine Powder 25 mg; Chitosan 180 mg; Garcinia Cambogia (as Citrimax) 50 mg.
Nighttime Active Booster: Per 2 Caplets: Niacin (as Niacinamide) 20 mg; Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCl) 2 mg; Potassium (as Gluconate) 100 mg; Gymnema Sylvestre Leaf Powder 150 mg
i take 3 daytime pills with my bfast and then 2 night time pills with my dinner. i dont know why i couldnt stay on them lol, but im afraid i might become dependant on them...then again i would beif i went on insulin, right?
highs and lows are a killer to me. especially the highs, if i have just one high, usually above 150 then im just wore out, exhausted. lows arent as bad, unless they get really low. stack..do what you can now! i had gestational diabetes with my last 2, this last one it would steady for awhile, then go crazy...and it just stayed on teh crazy side.
banaba drops..have you looked at the price of them? ouch! one 2oz bottle is $22.50..it doesnt look like it would last long either as they recommend 3 ccs twice a day. but my coconut concentrate has been shipped..so hopefully that will help me out! awhole lot cheaper lol. the pills i have are on sale right now for $9..they are usually $11 for a months supply. i wish i could get a prescription for them lol, but they dont work that way! although im wondering if there is something out there that is herbal that could be prescription? who knows though. because insurance is strange anyways..they dont pay for armour thyroid pills.

I'll have to go look again. The Banaba Pure that I purchased for my sisters fil was in capsule form.
I'm off to look up Guarana because for some reason that ingredient is popping out at me. I'll come back and tell you what I found.

Most of those herbs are at least familiar to me...
I've used chromium for blood sugar, and Licorice and Marshmellow for gall bladder stuff but my prenatal has a good amount of chromium in it and the gall bladder stuff is past for the moment.
I'd double check on line what they are all for, you are still in your fertile years I think (I can't remember how old you are) so double check anything that is HIGH in estrogen...but assuming it all does something for you, I'd rather take 3 herbs in the morning and 2 herbs in the evening than trying to juggle insulin throughout the day, myself. If you haven't read anything by Shonda Parker, you really should...she is not a diabetes author per se, but she does have some good stuff on the herbals that are used in lots of treatments and the contraindications and such...for instance learning which herbs have too much estrogen for women in their fertile years but are okay in menopause etc.
Fact is, your body is going to need something...better something that is building your system to be the best that it can be as it is. I've read a couple of studies recently that talk about injected insulin being kind of a slippery slope for some people...that most double their insulin intake within the first year and it just goes down hill from there. I don't know how that applies to ingested and so it might not be the same.
Anyway, I'm doing my best to keep mine under control...recently I've been doing pretty good...but this pregnancy has been VERY interesting. I'm usually one who would rather have the baby go to term but I tell you what, I've had a couple days recently of wishing that she could be born sooner than later just because I feel like I'm running on a treadmill turned up too fast...I burn EVERYTHING too fast this pregnancy...that works toward the good as well as the bad...I can get over a bad blood swing pretty quick BUT I can get in trouble pretty quick too.

Yes, that's what I found Dulce. I didn't read anything alarming about it though. If it's helping your sugars and doesn't have anything in it to hurt you, it might be worth the $11 per month.

thought i would update (plus im bored lol..its almost bath time though). my sugars are all wacky again. i had a tsp of coconut concentrate with my bfast, but havent had any the rest of the day. we went to a football game (6yo plays flag football) and on the way home i was feeling really yucky..so dh bought me some crackers. an hr later my sugars were 175..ack. i didnt eat too many carbs or anything. lunch was a salad. got home from grocery shopping (which was a huge workout..dumb me picked up 3 bags of 40lbs each potting soil..first things i picked up and i was shopping for 2 weeks of food!). it was down to 110 but i wasnt feeling good. so grabbed a snack. dinner i ate really good, and just chcked and its 95. so looks like im getting some #s down, but not all. im going to try to up my coconut concentrate (though i need to find some recipes which i have yet to find), something where i can just grab (like a small cookie) and have it in there. we travel all day sunday so its a bit hard.

So what was in the crackers?
I'm betting high fructose corn syrup...that stuff is DEATH...
I'm at the opposite end...I was feeling REALLY energetic this afternoon and realized I hadn't eaten very much in the way of veggies (a couple of smallish salads) today and no grains at all (I usually have some granola), just the 2 tsp of sugar in my tea this morning...I checked and sure enough I'm in ketosis...whoops.
I'd rather stay out if I can because they don't know the effects on the baby...and considering in ketosis you are burning fat and the baby is doing nothing but gaining fat right now...I figure it's probably best to stay above that line but the further along I get the more I have to add carb wise to stay out of ketosis...I usually eat between 100-150 carbs a day...today I'm probably about 50ish, I haven't logged yet.
Anyway, it's trying to be bath time here but the water is too hot...so I thought I'd visit for a minute.
I'm sorry you are having such a hard time...still praying right behind you.

i have never hit ketosis..even when on atkins and eating 18 grams of carbs a day, i wasnt in ketosis. today hasnt been too bad, though i know they were a bit high..but never tested them. we had a dinner at church and it was italian..i was careful, but then went up to the dessert table and saw...cheesecake..homemade...oops.
