Nutritionist.
I am so FLOORED by what her recommendations are.
Carbs~ 15 points but NEVER explained to her about simple and complex. I told her she can have complex carbs but not simple.
Meat~ avoid beef or red meat and load up on chicken and fish. Her reasoning is red meat raises cholesterol and weight levels. (blah!!)
Avoid BUTTER and go with Margerine. I told mom under no certain terms is she to eat margarine. I told her why. She said ok.
She also told her to use Splenda, Equal or Sweet n Low. I told mom she is better off getting sucanat and use it in her coffee and use regular sugar in her tea instead of that fake stuff. I told her they are very harmful to you.
I am very very upset over this. I told mom that nutritionist are about 10 years behind research that is coming out today.
I told her that I have lost weight by eating more foods with saturated fats (animal fats). She is floored by that. I told her that more people are gaining weight on low fat diet than those that are eating a diet that is via a Maker's Diet or NT diet. She is not getting it really. She eats way too many sweets. I told her that is what is making her pre-diabetic not the butter or the meat.
Oh she is also told eggs are very bad for you. She is only allowed 2 eggs a week if she has to have them. I told NOT TRUE. I told her if she gets my eggs she can eat them every day (we have brown egg layers which are both free range eaters and feed eaters). She said but it causes high cholesterol. I said no they just came out and said it doesn't actually. It raises the GOOD cholesteral and lowers the bad.
HELP HELP guys!!! What is going on here? Why is she being put on a diet that will increase her risk of heart disease because of the high trans fat? According to the chart she is given she is on a high trans fat diet.
