A little history....I am 28 years old. I am still nursing my almost 2 year old.
Last June, I noticed a lump in one side which they thought might be a lactating adenoma (like a fibroadenoma, but while nursing). Then, they weren't sure next time I went... I was getting so frustrated with the lack of official diagnosis. My mom had premenepausal breast cancer 6 years ago, so this worried me. Then, I went again to the specialist with a concern on the other side. I was diagnosed with "lumpy" breasts--fibrocystic, i guess.
Last cycle, my other breast started to get really lumpy and aching--like that first side, but way worse. I have another ultrasound to check things out on this side at the end of march.
If it is nothing (which I am praying for), would it be okay to start taking progesterone cream on my own. I haven't had my hormones tested on anything. I have a few weird things going on....spotting for a day or so a few days after my cycle ends, soreness in breasts, stray hairs popping up on chest and chin. I am so concerned to play around with hormones though, especially with a family history of estrogen induced cancer.
if this is okay to try, what is a good brand?
when do I start taking it in my cycle? I have long cycles where I don't ovulate until day 17 or so. Do I wait until after I ovulate? Start the next day? I am confused. I don't want my body to stop producing it on its own.
Do I just take this for a few cycles or always?
Tell me anything else I need to know! Thanks

Hi Tara, I had this problem and I did some parasite cleanses and it has been gone for about 6 months now . I don't think a natural progesterone cream would hurt since most of us are estrogen dominant anyway. I like Natures Sunshine because it has wild yam in it, but I know a lot of people that use Emerita with good results. If you have a long cycle you will increase the number of days you use the cream to 1/2 of the days of your cycle. I prefer to have people do the days after the last day of their period and then stop for the days before their period. You want to use 1/4 of a teaspoon on a thin fleshy area of the body like the inner arm or inner thigh.
Let me know if you want to do the cleanses. I was amazed at the results.

OOPs. I just saw that you are still nursing. You can't do the cleanses yet unless you just do the gallbladder/liver cleanse. That one does wonders by itself, but you don't want to do anything more than a one day cleanse while nursing.

Thanks for that info. As soon as I am finished nursing I am definitely doing a bunch of cleanses. My dh has done several with amazing results. He wants me to avoid getting pregnant again until I do some cleanses. I've been pregnant/nursing and both sometimes since summer 1999. Are you saying to apply the cream in the days after my period but before ovulation? Sorry, I am a little confused.

I use the progesterone cream just the opposite. I start it AFTER I'm sure I've ovulated and use it every day for the next two weeks until my period starts. This assures that my body produces as much natural progesterone as it's going to around ovulation time. I thought this is what Dr. John Lee's book says to do?

Paula, That way is fine too. I was going by Dr. Elaine Newkirk's philosophy of giving your body a loading dose so that the progesterone level will be high enough after ovulation. Now, that you have reminded me of Dr Lee, I do like his way of letting the body make as much as possilble on it's own, sooooooooooo, do it Paula's way.
