Doing a detox while nursing is a big NO-NO, right? I've read this in many resources, but have recently come across people who say it is not a problem. Just wondering if there is more information that you all can point me to to learn more. I have been wanting to try Kombucha tea for a long time, but have avoided it for the past 3 years because I have been nursing and it has a detoxifying effect of the liver. I have recently found out that many women drink the tea while nursing and haven't encountered any problems (that they know of). Is there anyone here that can teach me more about this?
Thanks, Carmen

Carmen...
A small amount of Kombucha wouldn't have a big detox effect as say taking a chelating detox supplement. Toxins released into your blood stream would/could end up in breast milk. But I asked Sarah and she said it wasn't a problem during nursing.
I would ask Kombucha companies such as GT Dave's or other sources of the product online. They would have a wealth of info concerning pregnancy & nursing. I personally don't think moderate amounts of a probiotic is bad during preg. & nursing as long as its not causing you to have typical detox symptoms like excessive sweating, diarrhea, lightheadedness, etc. I drink a small juice glass of Kombucha every day just for the probiotics. If I was trying to recover from an illness then I would drink more but I don't see a small amount like that would be a problem while nursing. Do a search on bodyecology.com to see what they have to say about fermented drinks & foods during this time. Traci :-)
