Hi ladies! I opened this board because I feel that there is a real need for forum like this. I met with one of the ladies today that leads our special needs ministry at church and she has so much knowledge about our children in conflict that I wanted her to have a place to share it and for others to have a place to absorb it. So , Please feel free to post any special needs parenting or diet questions here and hopefully Cherise or I can help you. God Bless, Tina (who has her own special needs child )

Hi! I'm Cari. Mom to Nick (11 yo, all boy, just happens to have Down Syndrome & Hyperlexia), Mitchell (5 yo, very creative little boy who sometimes communicates on levels well-above his short 5 years) and Zachary (3 yo, my monkey, my all boy who shows no fear unless his big brothers pull the shy routine then he joins them). I'm married to Jeff who is a coal miner turned LPN dealing with the geriatric population. He loves his total career change and I love being a stay at home mom (though I will admit being a working mom was in some ways easier ). Today the younger two boys and I went to cheer Nick on at the Spring/Summer Special Olympics Games in our County. Nick won two gold medals and one silver. Looks like he'll get to go on to the State event as a representative for our county. Cari

Hey there,
I'm Angie. I have 5 kids, my almost 9 year old son has autism. He was diagnosed when he was 3. Soon after I found out I stumbled upon (or more acurately, was led by God) the gluten free/casein free diet. It's worked really well for us. I homeschool all my kiddos. My son is doing great. He reads every animal book he can get his hands on. His knowledge of all things animal is impressive. He's a caring and watchful babysitter to his younger siblings and one of my best behaved children.
I look forward to gleaning info and being encouraged by this neat-o group of gals
