Last Night I used a couple of cups of coconut oil in my big pan and fried up some fries. This is a better oil than others for frying, right?
Anyway..now that I have fried with it, it turned kind of light yellow looking.
So my question is, can i keep it and use it another couple of time for frying another couple of things. OR is it bad now? What are the health benefits or risks of reusing coconut oil?
OR did I just make a really expensive batch of fries last night since I really shouldn't reuse it? LOL
Thanks for any help.

Was it virgin or expeller pressed? I'm guessing expeller since it is yellow. It's fine to re use it. Coconut oil has a very high smoke point which makes it reusable.

No ..not expellar...It was Virgin. After Frying it was the light yellow color. Before Frying it was clear. So How many times do you re use your oil? Do you store it in the fridge between uses?? At what point do you feel you need to throw it out?

Did you use some seasoning on the fries? I'm trying to figure out the yellow color. Maybe it was the starch?? Anyway, I would not use it more than three times.

Yes, You are right. Now that i think about it. It must have come from the fries. they were store bought pre cut ore-ida frozen fries. I bet the color comes from those. I hadn't thought about that. I am using up my junk food. LOL We still have freezer food left over as we are going bcak to healthy foods.
So now i am curious about making a batch with new coconut oil and real potato wedges and see how its stays clear and clean.
thanks for all the help. Okay then. I'll throw it out after three. thanks so much!
