I'm not sure where to begin. There are four of us in my family, and we really need to revamp our eating. Dd1 eats pretty well and makes good food choices so I'm not so worried about her. Dd2 is 10 and she is overweight. I'm also overweight. We really need to cut back on sugar, so can anyone give me some advice? I'm really worried that dd2 is going to grow up learning my unhealthy habits. How can I change to better help her?

What types of things are you guys eating now? Does your family eat breakfast? How much water do you drink? How often is there snacking in between meals. If you can give me some more information, we can help you find a starting point

Thanks in advance...
Breakfast consists of cereal or toast or pop-tarts (I know, I know).
There is snacking between meals, sometimes veggies or fruit but mostly whatever they can grab.
I don't believe we drink enough water. Some days are better than others. Dds have about one glass of milk per day (Dd1 takes a calcium supplement because she can't stand milk), and I don't drink it because I don't like the taste unless it's chocolate milk.
I don't really know how to cook very well, so we really do eat a lot of quick-fix foods.
Is this enough info? Please ask me more questions if it's not enough.

Yes, that's enough info for a start. I would do two things first. 1) Weigh everyone in the house and divide their weight by half. That number will be the number of ounces each person should drink of water each day. That is number one. 2) change the carbs at breakfast to fruit. Fruit smoothies are wonderful. If anyone here is good with links, could you link to the smoothie recipe I posted a while back. *edit Here is the link to the thread with Tina's smoothie recipe ~Marcia tasteofhealth.proboards43.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cooking&thread=1113695109&page=1Fruit digests much easier than any other food. It makes more energy than it uses to be digested and makes a great start for the day. Dh is hinting that it's time to turn in. I will write more tomorrow.
