Does anyone know if kefir is acidic or alkaline. Also, why are there such varying differences out there regarding which list a particular food is part of, acid or alkaline . And lastly, has anyone found a good site to study on the topic? Thanks!

If it is kefir made from raw milk , it is alkaline. If it's pasteurized, it's acid. This happens because of the changes the milk goes through when heated for pasteurization. I don't have a web site, but I have a book that I used in school that I will try to dig up for you. It's Fell's guide to natural Health and it was the most comprehensive book I've read.
I'm not sure why there is so much of a differing opinion, but I have found that there are just a few things that are regularly disagreed upon: blueberries, cranberries, apple cider vinegar and dairy...

Thanks for the info, Tina. Those were the major items I have found to be in conflict. Does yogurt also have to come from raw milk to be alkaline?

From everything that I have read, it does have to come from raw milk that has just been heated to steaming. Anything above that changes the fat structure and affects the ash that the body leaves after digesting it which is what affects acid alkaline balance.
