Well the chickens we got this spring are getting bigger every day! We have them in a chicken "tractor" out on grass! We got 12 chicks and only 1 of them is a rooster!!! I can hardly wait for the hens to start laying eggs!
Speaking of eggs, how much do people in your area get for their all natural, free-range chicken eggs? Just curious, as we plan on increasing the number of laying hens we have so that we can start selling our extra eggs.

i get farm-fresh eggs from two of dh's cousins they both raise chickens and sell them. It is 1.00 per dozen but you gotta bring your own egg carton. There is one little podunk herbal store in the town closest me and they are all the time looking for people to sell them their eggs. they say that people will bring in5-6 dozen and those are gone within a day. That might be worth checking out. This town closest to me is around 4000 people. Every time my mom comes out to my house, she always stops and gets eggs. or has me to if i am coming into town. Can't beat fresh eggs! Word of mouth is the best and may be a sign out at the end of your road. People do that all the time for eggs, fresh produce, pecans, etc.

We buy all of our eggs from private small farmers. There are times that we have close to 30 dozen for the co-ops! It beats paying $6 a dozen that some organic farms ask for and we are supporting the small farmer.

I haven't been here in a long time. Sorry. We have two families at our church that are already buying eggs from us. (My husband's parents have eggs at the farm.) They have been for several months now! We have been charging $1.75. It seems to be the average. The one family always gives us $2 a dozen though! Our first batch of layers should start laying within the next few weeks! I'm so excited to be getting our own fresh eggs!

Wow! That's awesome! It's good to hear from you again. If you were here, we would definitely be buying your eggs!

the chickens will be slaughter up there and quick frozen. It is Tami's Dekorte's brother N law who lives in Michigan. they will drive up in may and drive back down (bringing the CKNs back frozen) I had 2 and they tastes very good. you can definitely taste a difference.
