Several years ago a church in Augusta, Georgia asked me to do a seminar on developing a Titus 2 ministry. As I thought about the topic and prepared my material, I found myself focusing less on how to organize such a ministry and more on how to become such a woman.
A Titus 2 woman is an older, mature Christian woman who teaches and encourages the younger women. Her ministry is based on the Scripture passage Titus 2:3-5.
It seemed to me that every Christian woman regardless of age or marital status should aspire to become a Titus 2 Woman. It also seemed to me that most churches today are woefully lacking in the training of these ladies. They may have organized women's functions, but there seem to be few if any older women who are discipling the younger women biblically as required in Titus 2:3-5.
Because of the need, I have written this book. Within these pages are many practical examples of how to effectively disciple younger women. It is also practical in its approach to how, by God's grace, we develop the character that He wants every older woman to have.
I must stress that none of what you will read can be accomplished apart from the grace and empowerment of God. We are responsible to pursue righteousness and to obey His Word, but He does the work through the Holy Spirit. He is truly "able to make all grace abound to you" (II Corinthians 9:8). Regardless of your background or what your life was like before Christ, if you are a Christian, God can transform your character and make you into the woman He wants you to be. He alone deserves the credit.
Remember that this process in your growth takes time, work, and prayer. We must often and repeatedly turn to God for His help and enabling power. My prayer is that God will use this book to bless you and use it for His glory. I have written it for Him.
"And if you address as Father the one who impartially judges according to each man's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb, umblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ." I Peter 1:17-19
