1. What does it mean to be "reverent in her behavior"?
NIV Reverent in Greek is hieroprepes= suited to a scared character--reverend (hieros "sacred" prepo "to be fitting") it is translated reverent.
KJV becometh holiness Become in Greek is hieroprepes-from hieros "sacred" with the adj. form of prepo denotes "suited to a sacred character, that which is befiting in persons, actions, or things consecrated to God. KJV "becometh holiness" Titus 2:3 distinguishes this word from "kosmios" modest. And semnos "grave or honerable".
Her behavior has to start on the inside. She has to have full confidence in her heart that she is "set apart for God". Once her heart is completely surrendered to God, it will show in her words, actions, and deeds.
2. How are women to be adorned? A. According to 1 Timothy 2:9-10 b. According to 1 Peter 3:3-4
1 Timothy 2:9-10 NIV 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
KJV 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
The outside appearance is not to be the focus of the person, nor is it a true reflection of the inner 'man'. Scripture says that our treasurers are not to be of 'earth bound' in nature, but to be 'godly'. Matthew 6:19-24 God doesn't judge by outside appearances, therefore, we who are created in His Image, and are called by His Name, are to do the same. We are not to draw attention to ourselves and our 'flesh' by our attire or accesories. We are to be a 'light' to the lost thru our hearts / actions and deeds.
I will post the rest of my answers later!! Thanks Laura

1 Timothy 2:9+10
Both KJV and NIV say this:
NIV: But with good deeds / appropriate for women / who profess to worship God.
KJV: But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
If you are going to 'profess with your mouth' Jesus is Lord, you better be backing this up with appropriate Scripture prescribed action and behavior. Scripture is clear a womans place in His Will. We just have to stay connected to Him to discover it. Then we must live this out for Him, for the world to see.
1 Peter 3:3-4
NIV 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4 Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
KJV 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
3. What does it mean to have a "gentle and quiet spirit"?
Gentle in Greek is epieikes=epi "unto" eikos "likely" denotes "seemly fitting" hence "equitable-fair-moderate-for bearing-not insisting on the letter of the law". It expresses that considerateness that looks "humanely and reasonably at the facts of a case" it is rendered gentle. In contrast to contentiousness quarrelsome.
Quite in Greek is hesuchios "quiet-tranquilly" Tranquility rising from within causing no disturbance to others. Quite, peaceable. Peaceable, meek....which describes a spirit or disposition.
I used to think it meant to walk around all folded in, saying little to nothing having no opinion, disagreeing with no one, and just generally looking like a door mat!! Wrong Gentle is fair. Gentle is moderate, not extreme. Gentle is patient. Gentle is considerate. I can be all of these descriptions of 'gentle' and STILL disagree with someone. I can be all of these descriptions and STILL open my mouth, in love, and have an opinion. I can still stand up and defend myself, my family, my God. That is very freeing!!
Quite is tranquil. calm, once again, not extreme. This tranquility comes from within, which I would say is a direct result of the indwelling Holy Spirit. I cannot squelch Him by being extreme and letting my flesh take over.....for when I do, I do not feel that tranquility from within. I feel the results of my "extreme" flesh. That is my weakness. I can be very extreme.
I really believe if I could be surrounded by like-minded believers I would be less extreme and more productive for Christ. I want so badly to be surrounded with such people.
I will get to the rest later......I am fighting some crazy chest cold thing.

4. Write down two or three examples of unwholesome words that you have said. (See Ephesians 4:29). Now write down what you should have said - words that are good and beneficial.
OOOO That would be censored on this board, and rightly so.....much much to my embarrassment and shame. But I definitely get the point of this exercise.
5. In Philippians 4:8, we are told to think thoughts that are of "good repute." What does that mean? Give two examples.
Repute in Greek is entimos meaning, "honorable, to hold in honor" is translated "hold in reputation".
I am to view things / people / situations thru "God's Eyes", not quick to point out fault of others and exalt self, but to see and work with the potential good in any situation. WOW is that easier said than done. This is SO EASY for me to practice, with children/teens. It's very 'natural, unforced'. But with adults, it is so hard.....
6. Explain what you should do if another woman approaches you for advice about her friend who is sinning.
# 1 PRAY. Pray before you utter a word. Pray together, and pray alone. #2 Ask this 'woman' what are her intentions? How does she see HERSELF as part of the solution in this situation? If she cannot come up with a godly answer to this question STOP THE CONVERSATION in right there. It's headed for gossip and slanderville. #3 IF she can tell you HOW she can be part of the solution, Scripture provides us with Perfect instruction on how to help a fallen brother or sister. Matthew 18:19-20 Pray Galatians 6:1-6 Make sure that your heart and motives are in line with God. Matthew 18:15-17 Follow God's Way in dealing with brothers and sisters in Christ.
I will finish tomorrow! Thanks Laura

7. What might a woman be in bondage to besides alcohol?
Idolatry
Exodus 20:3 Matthew 6:24 1 John 5:21
Worldliness
1 Corinthians 3:3 / 10:21 / 15:33-34 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Galatians 1:10 Galatians 5:16-26 Ephesians 4:17--5:21 Romans 12:1-6 1 Timothy 6:3-10 James 4:4-7 1 John 2:15-17
The Tounge
1 Peter 2:1 James 1:19-21 Titus 3:1-2 1 Timothy 4:7
The reason why I can post this many verses about these subjects, is because these are the verses that are highlighted in my Bible. When I was first saved, I picked out everything "I was" and highlighted it in the Word. When I read my Bible, it is a clear reminder of what I used to be / what I don't ever want to be again. When I start 'back sliding' it is very easy for me to see when I open my Bible.
8. Reread Romans 6:16-18. Is there anything that comes to mind to which you are in bondage?
I have studied this passage / and the book of Romans several times, and once in a very indepth way, and I still "don't get it". I just don't understand what Paul is saying........
16: Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17: But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.
18: You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
I just don't get it. If you can put this in your own words and help me that would be awesome!!
Is there anything that comes to mind to which you are in bondage? 9. What is your prayer?
My personal bondage......fear. My prayer? That God would lead me to a church home, with Christan Fellowship, where I can be who He created me to be, and to fullfill the purpose He has for me. That God would remove my fear, that I will act AT ONCE on His Lead. That I would have the wisdom and discearnment to know His Lead. That I would act in FULL / FIRST REQUEST obedience to Him. Sweet Jesus, I so badly want to be in a fellowship of like minded believers!!
