The site is correct in saying that using white sugar is safer than using artificial sweeteners. But I find no need to use white sugar when there are so many other natural choices available such as honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, sucanat, rapadura, molasses, dates, and of course just adding fruit sweetens up a recipe.
